I have never understood the excitement gamers feel when E3 (and other similar events) come around. I know of no other industry where a bunch of large corporations get together to unveil the things they intend to make you buy over the next few years, and the consumers love them for it.
I don’t…

Firstly, I can think of Apple, haha. Secondly, we love them for it because we love games, and we love to buy them, so I’d say it’s a win win situation all around. Gaming’s a hobby, and people like to see where that hobby is going next.
Case in point, I’m excited to see what the Wii U can do, what it’s priced, games it’ll come with (PIKMIN 3), etc. That isn’t to say I’ll buy it, in fact I’ll have to wait because I’m about to be a broke college student. But I do enjoy learning about it.
Some games are far enough along to have a playable demo, but are still many months from being completed. The most we see of other games are 30-second, non-gameplay trailers. And then there is thing I understand the least - games that are “revealed” with only a name and one piece of concept art.
The other thing about E3 is that games that we’ve always wanted to come out and are waiting to get announced. That being said, it’s when those games are confirmed, people get excited. I can’t say I recommend that myself, as you said, the game isn’t ALWAYS going to be good, but even if there were only a logo for Super Smash Bros., I’d be happy to speculate as to what it could be, and happy that its existence has been confirmed, and that it is being worked on and coming out soon, sort of like a planning tool.
Why are people getting themselves worked into a frenzy for games that they already know are coming and may well turn out to be terrible, if they get released at all?
BECAUSE WE LIKE TO BE EXCITED AND YOU’RE CYNICAL. POO.
But I guess it’s just the spirit of the matter. The cognitive dissonance comes AFTER you buy the game, haha.
That’s all I can think of atm.
Hori’s absolutely glorious Slime Keyboard. Look at the slime function keys! Look at the slime directional keys! Look at the Roman numeral keys!
Ostensibly, this is a Wii accessory designed to tie in with Dragon Quest X Online – it even comes with codes for in-game items. But there’s no reason you couldn’t use it as a USB keyboard for your computer. You know, for important business. When you read Tiny posts in late August, know that about half of them are going to be written from one of these.

Jet Set Radio’s Playlist Will Have Almost 100% Of International Soundtrack
Awhile ago, it was rumored that SEGA was having trouble acquiring rights to old songs that had since been lost to the wheel of legal time, since a lot of copyright holders no longer existed, etc. The problem was worrisome, when the intention was to have a game where you could download it and access an entire soundtrack for the game.
Come to find out, SEGA has managed to get almost everything from every region secured. And even better news is that they plan to release every song to every region and make this a true Jet Set Radio International Version. This means you’ll be able to play the game while music plays from another region that was previously impossible. Awesome!
The game is still slated for the summer.
Thanks to Bioshock Infinite’s and Metal Gear Rising’s delays, now the only shit I’m looking forward this year is Animal Crossing 3D.
How sad is that.
BUT IT’S ANIMAL CROSSING.
What Shay said.
Basically, when you get Animal Crossing, you will look down at the screen. When you look up, the release date for Bioshock will have arrived, and you will be sporting a full beard.
Oh dear I’ve gone too far.
